Wine With Everything

Sad to see Revlon has filed for bankruptcy. My first ever lipstick purchase was Revlon. I still remember the shade, and a while ago I wrote a poem about it.

My first lipstick:
Revlon
The height of chic
At least when you’re sixteen

My perfect shade:
‘Wine with Everything’
I purse my lips on a tissue
Leave a rosebud kiss

The plastic tube
The cloying scent
So much more grown-up
Than roll-on lip gloss

I’m older now
I wear pinky brown crème
But I still believe in
Wine with everything

PS Who else remembers roll-on lip-gloss, clunking into the Impulse body spray in your school bag?
